One Year!

 My baby's birthday-eve.

March 19, 2012
Birthday morning: Of course he woke up cranky!  Seriously unusual for this sweet, mild boy.

After a bath he was just so darn cute sitting on my bed looking perfectly peaches-and-cream that I had to snap away.  Mmmmmm, I just love him!

That lasted about 30 seconds before he was ticked off about it.

"It's my birthday, I can cry if I want to!"

"Oooooh look, toes!"
"Oh ya....Waaaaa!"

Check out those locks!
"And just to show you I don't like this, here's my pouty face!"

This is where he was when everyone started to arrive for his party.  He really needed it too, and wasn't happy to be woken up! Poor boy, he just didn't really enjoy this day.

Didn't care much for his cake

He finally perked up and started to enjoy his birthday.....at about 8:30 PM, after everyone went home and the attention was off him.

This is the most smile I got out of him all day!

Weirdo cat

Enjoyed some enlightening literature before bed

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY BOY!
WE LOVE AND ADORE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU!

14 Months

At 14 months you:
-Have mastered climbing UP stairs super fast, just not down (well, not safely anyways).
-Have 6 teeth, with 2 more bottom ones trying to come in.  Your teeth came in kind of crazy!  Unlike your big brother and sister, who got their two bottom middle ones first, you got your top "fang" tooth first, followed by the other 3 top ones across the front, and then your bottom "fang" tooth came in, and now the  front bottom 3 are making their way in.  So weird!  And the first one was just barely cutting on your first birthday so they've all come in just the past 2 months
-LOVE the tags on your blankies.  Especially your lion one, it's your favorite.  The tags have become your security object.  Every time you are handed one of your blankets you immediately find the tags, and if you're tired you rub them on your face.

-Say dada, mama, uh-oh (which sounds like uh-uh), all done (dada), and bye-bye (only to dad though, which sounds like, "dada-dada"), starting to say baba (for bottle).
-Love to babble!
-Will go to just about anyone, but love Mama the most, followed closely by daddy, and then your grandmas and grandpas.
-LOVE LOVE LOVE your cozy coupe car! You climb in and out, and open and close the door, and push it all around the yard.

-Get to ride forward-facing in your carseat and are loving it!
-Took 3 steps yesterday.  Walking is just around the corner.  (Now since I wrote this several days ago Xander is walking 8-10 steps, pushing off a couch, wall, person, and walking some more)
-Weaned off nursing a few weeks ago and have been loving cow's milk
-Sleep all night most nights, but wake up really early
-Get compliments all. the. time. on your gorgeous blue eyes that you inherited from daddy, and tan skin and full head of wavy locks that you inherited from mommy.
-Love kisses.  Mommy will say "kiss kiss" and you lean forward so I can kiss your head, and then repeat it over and over.  Melts my heart every time.
-Finally got your one year well child exam and immunizations, only two months late!  We kept canceling appointments because you kept getting sick.  You did better than ever with this set of shots.
-LOVE the great outdoors.  Some of the few tantrums you throw are when we walk past the front door without going out.  Or when it's time to come inside!

-Are absolutely the sweetest baby in the world.  You light up our home, make us laugh everyday, and love unconditionally and forgive quickly and freely.  We have much to learn from you, little lover boy!

Jack's sheets

I was at Target a few weeks ago with Jack and Xander looking for some baskets for my bookcase.  As I was browsing the basket aisle Jack got bored and wandered away, returning before I had a chance to worry, carrying a new set of sheets.  He informed me just how awesome they would look in his room and that he's never had Cars 2 sheets.  He asked if he could have them and at first I told him no, but then I reminded him he had enough birthday/Christmas money and could buy them himself if that's what he really wanted to spend it on.  He really wanted them, and was being sweet and well behaved, not whiney and demanding, so I paid for them and he came home and paid me back.

He was SUPER excited to sleep in them and seems to take great pride in the fact that he picked them out and paid for them himself.  It's the cutest dang thing ever!
It wasn't until I had a good look at the sheets and decided that they would match his room and bedding that I relented and let him buy them, and now I actually like them.  They coordinate well in his room, aren't too tacky, are mostly hidden under his plaid comforter, and will always remind me of my cute boy and one of his first real "grown-up" decisions.
