A Lost Battle

We attempted errands today. There are definitely times when I ask myself if the need is greater than the stress. If not, it's just not worth it. Such was the case today as i walked into the store carrying one crying child and dragging the other screaming one, trying not to make eye contact with all the onlookers who were most likely wondering if they knew the number to child and family services by heart. Needless to say, we walked in, turned around, walked out and drove home. Now the only sound I hear is the keyboard as my little ones are in dreamland. Phew!

One step at a time

I did something tonight that I haven't done for a really long time. Something good. I've been running almost everyday for a couple of weeks, sometimes morning and night, and tonight I ran two miles without stopping and sprinted the last 50 meters. I know it's not enough to officially call myself a runner, but it feels really good to me. I got a pretty good resistant workout at the same time because it's pretty windy tonight and I was pushing bob (bob the dualie stroller) which has large weather covers that caught and resisted the wind (like an upside-down umbrella). The wind was blowing diagonally across the track so half of my run was pushing against the wind, the other half was pushing me along.

Why the excitement? Well first of all I've been out of shape all winter. Second, I recently was shocked to learn that I'd gained 8 pounds in a very short amount of time, and had already been slowly gaining. Unfortunately this is the largest I've EVER been, not counting pregnancies and just after. So now it's time. Passed time. Time to get over my love affair I have with food. especially carbs. Dang those carbs, I LOVE them! Time to get my healthy body back and feel good. Tonight I feel good.

My First Photo Shoot

I dressed my kids up and took them out so I could play around with my camera a bit. I'm not biased at all when I say....
I have the cutest kids ever!!! :)

This is my fav!

I have soooo much to learn in the photography world, but I have to say, I LOVE my camera. These were all just taken on auto. Someday I'll figure out how to work everything and then I'll come back and laugh at my ammature photos! (I'll still love them because of the subjects!)

This one's for my Mom!

This year, particularly April and May, is a big year for my Mom. On April 10 she turned 50. Today she gets to celebrate her 30th wedding anniversary. Tomorrow we all get to celebrate how WONDERFUL she is. In about 3 weeks her youngest child graduates from high school. Alot going on that are major marking points in her life. Four weeks ago we had a big party to celebrate these events. Kayli and I planned a surprise party for her and secretly invited her family and closest friends. Although my dad was in on the surprise for my mom, the surprise was also on him as we had made it an anniversary celebration as well. Thirty years of successful marriage is quite an accomplishment that deserved celebration! It turned out to be such a special night as everybody ate delicious food and shared their favorite memories or greatest moments with my mom or with both my parents. There were a few other special surprises that night as well. ALL of my mom's siblings made it a priority to be there, even the ones from Idaho and St. George. I can't even describe how much that meant to my mom and all of us. (tears just thinking about it!) My mom said that that's how she pictures Heaven; all of her family and closest friends together! There just aren't adequate words to describe how incredible that night was! Also, thousands of thanks to Jake who put together an amazing video of my parents journey together! Lots of hard work and many hours paid off!

Here's everyone waiting for her to come in

Surprise!
My mom later told me she felt like she was going to pass out. Here she's leaning on the wall for support. What a shock!
These are the culprits who tricked her into the building. They were "planning" to go out to dinner to celebrate, but they had to stop and do some quick business at the church. (Jim and my dad are on high council together so it was believable). My dad "needed someone to help him" while he supposedly tested the chapel sound system so he sent my mom into the gym and told her to see if she could hear the microphone from there. That's how she was lured in!
Good ol' West Valley friends
I love this picture. It shows old friends so happy to see each other.
Poor Cameron couldn't get work off and Sarah had clinicals that night so we missed them at the party! Cameron came after work to say hi to everyone and get a family picture. I have such a cute family!
My mom has set the perfect example of service for me. She goes above and beyond to help others and in doing so has pure empathy for those in need. She is a very busy person because she's always out serving others. She is the most selfless person I've ever met! I seriously don't know how I got so lucky to have her as my mom! She has always been there for me and is my biggest fan. She came to every single one of my volleyball games and other school and church events. I know her greatest joy is being with her family and seeing us succeed. She was there by my side when I became a mother and has helped me every step of the way through this journey called motherhood.

Happy 50th Birthday,

Happy Mother's Day,

and Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations on 30 years together! I know I have been placed on the path of successful marriage through my parent's example. It's now up to me and Jess and the choices we make, but we will always have that example to follow!

What a cute couple! I love them!!!

Still Here!

I'm going to backtrack about 5 weeks and try to catch up. I've been staying up and trying to organize my photo folders and found pictures from this past month that I want to have on here. Wow, it's been a busy month! We've had a lot going on and unfortunately for me, I haven't kept my blog up. Anyways, I found these pictures from our conference weekend. We don't have TV in our house so we usually go for drives or visit parents to listen to conference. This year we decided to stay home so we had to get creative. We painstakingly maneuvered our couch around a tight corner with our counter in the way so that we could watch conference live on the internet! Yes, we are slowly breaking away from the cavemen and catching up with the world of technology!
We celebrated Jesse's birthday a few days later. I already wrote a birthday post for him but we hadn't actually celebrated yet so now I just have our pictures to post. The night before his birthday is when I gave him his gifts from me because I had a class the night of his real birthday. Before my class though we had a mini celebration with the kids so they could give him his gifts and cake.

The kids colored some cards for Papa.

I took the kids shopping for daddy's birthday present and Jack was set on getting him a 'blue doo(dune)-buggy' because he was sure that's what Jess would love the most. We searched and searched at Target, Wal-mart, Toys r us, All-a-dollar, and finally Kmart. We couldn't find any dune buggy's at all, let alone a blue one so we just bought the closest we could find. Jack wrapped them up in blue wrapping paper so he was satisfied, and still excited to help Jess open them!

Jayci gave Papa a luxury treat that we don't have here too often: a 12 pack of coke! She really helped Jack pick out the hot wheels because she also wanted to give Daddy a dune-buggy. We made sure to get enough for all of them to play together.
I made Jess some gourmet sloppy joes and Maceys was kind enough to make the cake! (I'm really glad my husband still loves me!:)

There were just too many candles to fit on our little cake so we left 27 of them off! Jess was a good sport when I had to leave for my class.
Happy Birthday Papa!!! We love you!

Well, I have to say, what's up with this crazy spring weather? It's finally seeming somewhat normal, although very hot already, but the day after I let my kids play in the rain this is what that storm turned into! I thought I had doomed them to pneumonia. All the poor trees that had just blossomed lost branches because they just couldn't hold up under the pressure of an April snow storm. At about midnight I heard some loud popping noises and went outside to investigate. The trees that are next to my house had huge branches cracking and breaking off. They sure made some pretty pictures!

Not so pretty in the morning though!

At least the kids enjoyed the snow!
This is Jack's buddy Beau throwing a snowball at me.

So ummm it's 3:11 AM. I still have a ton to catch up on.......... but not tonight. Hopefully soon! Hope everyone else is enjoying sleep right now, I'm sure your morning will be more pleasant than mine!
