For the 24th of July we decided to get away and go camping. Jenny (Jess's sister) and Matt booked some spots near Manti in the La Salle mountains and Rick and Jess closed the shop for the holiday.
For as well as he did on his first camping trip, I was surprised with how fussy he was on this one. He didn't love it. However, his "fussy" is so mild that he's still easy. He just wasn't his normal self.
I bought Jess one of those anti-gravity chairs for Father's Day, picturing him kicking back in the shade with a can of Mt.Dew. I had to snap a picture of my vision coming to life. I didn't, however, picture him with a flowery bucket full of pebbles to throw at people's calves. Or behinds. That was an added surprise.
There was a large pond near the camping sites where we had fun rafting in, and where aunt Jenny took the kids "minnow" catching. Thank goodness for fun aunts, especially when all daddy does is throw rocks at people ;) and mama has the baby most of the time.
Here are the fishies they caught, though I can't remember their names. In the short time that they lived in this bucket they were nearly squeezed to death and nearly suffocated when the bucket tipped over. As traumatic as that must have felt for them, it was tenfold for Jayci. Wow. You'd have thought she got her legs cut off or something. She's a bit dramatic.
Jess found a great form of entertainment for Xander by propping up the pinwheel in direct line of the air conditioner. He was mesmerized!
We went on a mini hike to something-falls
We each took charge of a dinner, and while Jenny's was about as gourmet and delicious as you can get while camping, I was lazy and chose to roast hotdogs and marshmallows for ours. Hey, It's pretty unbelievable how much crap we already had to pack just for the baby and kids!
Jayci had much more fun "frosting" and "decorating" her mallows! Ewe!
